Reta J. Coleman, 90, of State Route 222, Cortland, passed away peacefully at home following an extended illness on Wednesday August 16, 2017.
A lifelong area resident, she was born February 27, 1927, one of nine children born to the late Macie and Flossie Guilfous Wooldridge.
Reta was employed for 33 years at Cortland Line, retiring in 1995.
Family was everything to Reta and cooking for them made it all the more special.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Kenneth H. Coleman; two daughters, Brenda (Darol) Sweeney and Nancy (Shawn) McMahon, both of Cortland; seven grandchildren, Kristi, Dustin (Ashli), Devin, Erin (Dan), Caitlin (Kent), Ethan and Mason; three great grandchildren, Jordyn, Tanner, and Morgan and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Reta was predeceased by her twin sister, Ruby VanZile; her sisters, Catherine Tinker, Evelyn Coville, Bessie Wooldridge, Marcia Swan, Charlotte Bunnell, and her brothers, Macie Wooldridge and Philip Wooldridge.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at the Donald L, Barber Funeral Home, 5016 Route 11, Homer, with Pastor John Hartman officiating. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer, will be at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Coleman’s name may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
