Kelvin K. Corbin

Kelvin K. Corbin, 79, of Lincklaen Rd., Cuyler, died on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 in St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center following an extended illness.

A lifelong Cuyler resident, he was born September 29, 1936 a son of the Harold G. and Lula P. Stone Corbin.

Kelvin faithfully served and was honorably discharged from the US Army.

He had been employed as a machinist at Redding Reloading Equipment, Cortland for past 18 years. He was also retired from the Homer Post Office, where he was employed for 30 years.

Kelvin was passionate about fire service and dedicated much of his life as a 66-year member of the Cuyler Fire Department, where he served as Chief and was past Fire Commissioner for 34 years. He was also on the original team of the Cortland County Fire Investigators, where he served for 25 years.

He also had served as a longtime CPR and First Aid Instructor for the American Red Cross and was the former Vice-President of the DeRuyter Central School Board.

Surviving is his loving wife of 24 years, Nancy L. Waffner Corbin; their children, USMC Capt. (Ret.) Kevin Corbin of Richlands

, NC; daughter, Tamara (Sterling) Pepper of Evansville, IN; son, Thomas Spaulding of DeRuyter; daughter, Pamela Washbon of New Woodstock; brother, Gene Corbin of Seymour, CT; several grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

He was predeceased by three sisters, Mildred Woodford, Caroline Marino and Freda LaVine.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19 at the Cuyler Fire Department, State Route 13, Cuyler. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in Cuyler Cemetery.

The family will receive relative and friends at the Cuyler Fire Department on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
