Stephen R. Tobias

Stephen R. Tobias, of McGraw, passed away unexpectedly on August 15, 2023 at the age of 52.

A lifelong area resident, Steve was born July 23, 1971, a son of Richard and Jane (Vosburgh) Tobias and was a 1989 graduate of McGraw High School.

At the time of his passing, Steve was a supervisor for the New York State Department of Transportation in LaFayette, where he had been employed for more than 20 years. He also had a former business, cooking BBQ chicken, which he loved doing.

Stephen was strong willed, stubborn, and had a great sense of humor but was also kind, generous, loyal and brave.  He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them and if you knew him, you knew it!

Stephen loved camping with his wife as well as long side by side rides. He throughly enjoyed every second spent with his children and most recently his first granddaughter.

Surviving is the love of his life, Jennifer Bradshaw Tobias; children, Bryan T. Tobias, currently serving in the United States Navy; Taylor J. (Josh) Meemken of Tully; Christopher S. Tobias of Pompey; Tanner G.W. Bradshaw of Cortland; his mother, Jane Tobias of McGraw; and mother-in-law, June Bradshaw of McGraw. Also surviving are his siblings, William ‘Bill’ Tobias of Cincinnatus; Trisha (Ron) Hinkle of McGraw; granddaughter, Althea Meemken and several nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved dog, Roxy.

He was predeceased by his father, Richard ‘Joe’ Tobias; father-in-law, Gary W. Bradshaw and a brother, David R. Tobias.

In keeping Steve's wishes, all services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
