Rose Marie Wells, 83, of Truxton, passed away following a period of declining health on Friday, October 31, 2025.
A lifelong area resident, Rose was born in Truxton on March 14, 1942, one of nine children born to the late Carl and Helen Case Potter.
Rose had been employed for a number of years as a home care specialist for Cortland County and had done private duty home nursing as well as having worked at Crescent Corset and Smith Corona.
She was a longtime, and active member of the Pomona Grange and the New York State Grange.
Surviving are her three children, Richard (Donna) Wells of Stanley, VA; Krissia (Paul) Rolfe of Ransomville and Anjanette (Tim) McCall of Truxton; her sister, Mary (Edward) Wilcox of Little York; several loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rose was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth R. Wells in 2003; her daughter, Amy Lee Wells in 1981; a great granddaughter, Madison Powell in 2014 and her seven siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at the Donald L Barber Funeral Home, 5016 U.S. Route 11, Homer. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Cortland will be held at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
