Robin M. Holmes, 66, of Homer, and formerly of Scott, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, following a brief illness.
Born on December 16, 1958, in Suffern, NY, Robin was the daughter of the late Richard and Bette (Kiah) Anable.
She graduated from Pearl River High School in 1976 and was an active member of the Pearl River Volunteer Ambulance Corps, where her dedication to helping others first began.
Robin went on to pursue a lifelong career in nursing, a profession she truly loved. She worked for many years as a registered nurse, retiring in 2022 from the Groton Nursing Facility. Of all her roles, she especially enjoyed teaching as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) instructor, sharing her knowledge and compassion with the next generation of caregivers.
She is survived by her three children, Melissa R. (Jamie) Babcock of Groton, Kristen M. (Steven) Hayes of Scott, and Kevin (Molly) Holmes of Groton; her siblings, Kathy LaShomb of Cornwall, NY, and Patrick (Linda) Anable of North Babylon; and her four beloved grandchildren, Connor, Nolan, Addison, and Emma, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins who will fondly remember her love and laughter.
Robin had a deep love for animals, especially her loyal companions — Tigger, her big orange cat, and Lili, her sweet little dog — who brought her endless comfort and joy.
She will be remembered for her quick wit, sense of humor, and the way she could make anyone smile, even in the hardest of times. Her warmth, laughter, and love will continue to live on through all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Homer Community Building, behind the Homer Fire Station, 45 South Main St., Homer. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer, will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Robin’s memory may be made to Country Acres Animal Shelter, 5852 West Scott Rd., Homer, NY 13077.
