Robert E. Ellsworth

Robert E. Ellsworth, 88, formerly of Burgett Dr., Homer, died unexpectedly on Thursday, December 1, 2016 in the Elizabeth Brewster House where he had been a resident since 2013.

A lifelong area resident, he was born June 17, 1928, a son of the late Edgar and Jennie Duell Ellsworth. Following his graduation from Homer Central he enlisted in the US Army faithfully serving during World War II from 1946-1948.

Bob retired from Smith Corona where he was employed for many years.

Bob enjoyed dressing as Santa for the Cortland SPCA, having holiday photos taken with family pets.

Surviving is his daughter, Cheryl E. (Rob) Barredo of Cortland; two step-sons, Michael and Mark Smith, both of Cortland; a granddaughter, Maria Barredo (Michael Broughton) of Homer and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his two wives, Mary Aldrich Ellsworth in 1973 and Lorene Smith Ellsworth in 2003 as well as his daughter, Sandy Ellsworth in 2007.

In keeping with Bob's wishes there will be no services.

Burial in Cortland Rural Cemetery, with Military Honors, will be held in the spring.
