Robert L. "Bob" Churchill, 90, passed away on March 6, 2026, in Florida. He spent his final years enjoying the Florida warmth and the company of his family.
Born on November 21, 1935, Bob led a life defined by service and a genuine love for his community. He served his country in the United States Army and later dedicated his career to law enforcement, serving with distinction as a Sheriff. His commitment to helping others was the hallmark of his professional life.
Outside of his career, Bob was an enthusiast of life’s many adventures. He had a deep passion for horses, boating, and travel. He was an avid golfer and cherished any opportunity for a get-together with friends and loved ones.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sally; his daughter, Lori; and his granddaughter, Alissa.
He is survived by his sons, William (Patricia) and Michael; his granddaughter, Emily (and her husband); and his great-grandson, James. His kindness, spirit of service, and unwavering love will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cortland Elks Lodge, 9 Groton Ave., Cortland. Bob will be laid to rest at the McLean Cemetery.
In honor of Bob’s life and his career in law enforcement, memorial contributions may be made to the Cortland Benevolent Association for the K9 Unit.
