Richard P. Neuman, 65, of Vestal, NY passed away on December 26, 2025 at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA.
Rick was born August 26, 1960 in Cortland, a son of the late Paul Neuman and Margaret Joann Briggs Neuman. He grew up on the family farm in Homer, which sparked a lifelong love of agriculture and farming. He operated Neumie Holstein Farm in Homer for several years.
He received an Associate degree from SUNY Morrisville and TC3 and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies, Policy and Management from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in 1996.
Prior to retirement, he was employed by the Delaware and Tioga Counties Soil and Water Conservation Department. Rick had been previously employed by Muscoot Farm in Katonah, NY and the Skaneateles Lake Watershed Agriculture Program in LaFayette, NY.
Surviving is his wife of 37 years, Martha Button Neuman; two step daughters, Shannon Mitchell of Marion, NY and Amy Lucenti of Apalachin, NY; four grandchildren, Vincent and Ava Lucenti of Apalachin and David Mitchell and Anna Porter of Williamson, NY; two sisters, Connie (Craig) Biviano of Homer and Theresa Neuman of Homer; nephew Ken and nieces Kelly, Sarah, Kaitlyn and Kiersten; as well as several great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Cathy Stage and Margaret ‘Peggy’ Neuman and a nephew, Phillip ‘PJ’ Miller.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2025 at the Donald L Barber Funeral Home, 5016 U.S. Route 11, Homer.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Rick on Sunday from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. at the Homer American Legion, 63 South Main St. Homer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rick Neuman’s name are asked to consider St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
