Phyllis M. Field, 92, of S. William Street, Homer, passed away on July 12, 2025 while under the care of Hospice and her loving family.
Born April 19, 1933 in Auburn, Phyllis was raised in Moravia by her parents, Willard and Mary Murphy Defendorf. She was a graduate of Moravia Central School, shortly after it’s completion in the 1950’s.
She was an avid BINGO player and she enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas with her dear friend, Pat Gray.
Phyllis was employed for more than 25 years at First National Bank of Cortland, retiring from the loan department.
Phyllis will be remembered for her “Tell it like I see it” outlook on life.
Surviving are her four children, Michelle (Tim) Phillipson of Orchard Park; Willard Field of Homer; Benjamin (Barbara) Field, III of Cortland and Deborah (Allen) Pond of Binghamton; her sister, Linda Defendorf Law (Marsha Heitzman) of Denver, CO. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jennifer O’Donnell of Homer; Leann Field of Cortland; Joseph (Pota) O’Donnell of Homer; Kyle Field of Cortland; Matthew and Summer Phillipson of Buffalo and Chad Pond of Virginia; her great grandchildren, Payton Smith; Lincoln Dorsett; Madison Wyant; Nadia Field; Blaire Field; Theodore Field; and Guliana, Melina and Antonio O’Donnell; a special niece, Kristin Law Buehler and her closest friend, Barb Sage.
Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin O. Field, Jr. in 1989.
In keeping with Phyllis’ wishes, services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
