Phyllis A. Bay, 77, of Highland Rd., Cortland, passed away peacefully, while under the care of Hospice and her loving family on April 21, 2020.
Phyllis was born November 5, 1942 in Queens, NY, a daughter of the late Harold and Evelyn Alversa Green.
She was a longtime communicant of St. Margaret’s Church, Homer. Phyllis was the founder of Dee’s Shawl Ministry; in memory of her late sister, Dolores Lyons, at St. Margaret’s, providing shawls and blankets for those in need.
Phyllis devoted her life to raising her four loving children. She loved animals, music and spending time with her grandchildren. She and Norm also enjoyed wintering in Florida for several years.
Surviving is her husband of 56 years, Norman H. Bay; her children, William (Madeline) Bay of Chenango Forks; Patricia Lord; Kathleen Daniels and Janet Bay, all of Cortland; her grandchildren, Deanna Bay of San Diego, CA; Zachary Daniels of Arlington, VA; Samantha Daniels of Cortland; Michael Bay of Cortland; Christopher Bay of Syracuse and Hannah Altmann of Cortland.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Dolores Lyons.
Due to the current restrictions in place for the COVID-19, services for Phyllis will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Bay’s name may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
