Phyllis I. Adams, 86, of Preble, NY, passed away on July 10, 2024, following a period of declining health.
A lifelong area resident, Phyllis was born March 5, 1938, the daughter of the late Harold and Mabel Pine Chase.
She married Fred Adams on September 20, 1958 and together they bought a home in Preble where they resided for more than 50 years. Fred passed away on February 18, 2015.
Phyllis retired in 2002 as the Deputy Cortland County Clerk after 19 years of service. She had been previously employed as the Preble Town Clerk and Tax Collector and had also been employed at one time by Marine Midland Bank.
She was an active member for many years at the Homer Congregational Church and volunteered many hours at the Coffee Shop at the Cortland Memorial Hospital.
Surviving are her four children, Nancy A. Richards of Homer; Bradley F. Adams of Homer; Douglas M. Adams of Marathon and Lorraine P. (John) Place of Cortland; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Gary E. Chase and Robert H. Chase.
Phyllis’s family will receive relatives and friends in the Russell Fellowship Room at the Homer Congregational Church, 28 South Main St., Homer, on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
