Monica Donielle Knapp Williams

Monica Donielle Knapp Williams, 42, of Cortland, passed away unexpectedly on December 24, 2024.

A lifelong area resident, Monica was born March 28, 1982, to Donald H. and Karen Stephens Knapp. Monica graduated from Cortland High School, TC3 and SUNY Oneonta, with high honors.

She was currently employed by the NYS Department of Labor as a supervising labor service representative.

Monica enjoyed going to concerts, camping, and singing. She loved to travel, with many trips to New York City, Las Vegas and most recently Australia. She loved spending time with her boys, taking long rides through the countryside.

She is survived by her two sons, Roger A. and Donovan E. Williams; her mother, Karen Stephens Knapp of Cortland; the father of her children, Roger Williams of Cortland and his parents, Bonnie and Roger Williams of Bainbridge; her aunts and uncles, Phyllis (Gary) Stephens DuRocher and Linda Knapp Cooper; brother-in-law, Brian Hamilton and cousins, Jim, Matt and Rebekah Toner.  

She was predeceased by her father, Donald H. Knapp in 2006; a sister, Kelly Lynn Knapp Hamilton in 2018; her grandparents, Howard and Juanita Johnson Knapp; William and Ruby Lash Stephens; and an uncle, William Stephens, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 U.S. Route 11, Homer. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery will be delayed until spring.

Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in her honor or a charity of your choice.
