Mary P. Caughey

Mary P. Caughey, of Homer, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 in the Cortland Regional Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, at the age of 78.

Mary was born February 27, 1947 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Richard and Elizabeth Hall Phillips.

Mary and her late husband, William ‘Dawg’ Caughey owned and operated the David Harum Restaurant in Homer, from 1987 to 2003.

Mary was a longtime member of the Burns-McCauliffe Post #465 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.  She enjoyed golf, tennis, a good card game and the people that called her “Grammie”.

Surviving are her two children, Ann (Mitchell) Kahn of Long Valley, NJ and Matthew (Diane) Caughey of Baldwinsville, five grandchildren, Sam, Sarah and Aren Kahn and Hannah and Ryan Caughey, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband, William “Dawg” Caughey in 2008, she was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Paul Phillips.

In keeping with Mary's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
