Katrina C. (Young) Wagner

Katrina C. (Young) Wagner, 48, of Cortland, NY went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 25, 2024, surrounded by her family. 

She demonstrated great strength, courage and determination in a long battle with ovarian cancer. 

Born September 10, 1975 in Hornell, NY, she is the daughter of Charles (Beth) Young of Hornell and Pamela Maroney of Pitcher. Her siblings include: Karl (Samantha) Young of Suwanee, Georgia, Corey (Aaron) Clark of North Chili, Jessica (James) Latta of Cincinnatus, Cassandra Whitlock (Charlie Heber) of Marshall, VA and Christopher (Andrea) Whitlock of Gainesville, VA.

Katy is survived by her loving husband of 25 wonderful years, Richard, and their four  amazing children: Dakota, Abigail, Amelia and Anastasia Wagner.

Katy and Rich started dating their senior year at Homer High School and married after college. Katy was a loving wife and mother, spending time playing, baking, and traveling with her family. Katy was motivated by her relationship with Jesus to serve numerous roles at Emmanuel Baptist Church, to do what was right, give generously, and unselfishly put others first.

Katy graduated in 1994 from Homer High School, where she enjoyed playing soccer, basketball and softball. Katy was a thrower for the SUNY Cortland Track & Field team while she earned her Physical Education and Health Education degrees. Katy faithfully taught Physical Education at Cincinnatus Central School for 25 years along side many talented, creative and caring teachers, staff and administrators. She has inspired many with her positive attitude, contagious smile, words of encouragement, great kindness, sacrificial giving, and focusing on the good in others.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 2 at Grace Christian Fellowship, 1250 Fisher Ave, Cortland, followed by a time to visit with the family until 6pm.  A private graveside service will be held at Glenwood Cemetery.
