Karl R. Ripley, Jr., 74, of Homer, passed away on June 14, 2021 at SUNY Upstate Hospital, Syracuse
He was born April 23, 1947 in Cortland, a son of the late Karl R. Ripley, Sr., and Eva Phillips Ripley.
Karl spent his career as a model maker / machinist. First at Smith Corona, where he worked for 19 years; 18 years self-employed and finally retiring in 2008 from IMR Testing Labs in Lansing.
He enjoyed hunting and watching sports, especially the New York Giants and New York Yankees. Karl’s true passion was restoring and building street rods and classic cars. He loved attending car shows and cruise-in’s. He also had a great love for his Airedale Terriers.
He enjoyed making wise-cracks and playing jokes on his family and friends, always in good fun and most likely because he enjoyed your company.
Surviving is his loving wife of 50 years, Susan Hess Ripley; sister-in-law, LouAnn (Michael) Jacobs of Knoxville, TN; two nephews, Pasquale (Jane) Ferrari of Tacoma, WA; Tony (Carolyn) Ferrari of Knoxville TN; his niece, Carli (Caleb) Ferrari of Warsaw, IN and a great-nephew, Giovanni Ferrari.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 18, 2021 at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer, NY. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer.
Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday morning from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral.
