Joyce E. Watrous

Joyce E. Watrous, 78, of 21 Prospect Street, Homer NY, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018 at home following a brief illness.

A lifelong area resident, she was born in Cortland on May 17, 1939. She is the daughter of Richard Burch and Ruth Hill. She married Elwin A. Watrous on July 7, 1958.

Joyce retired in 2002 from Homer Central School where she was longtime secretary to the Principal. Joyce enjoyed the many relationships she had with staff and students.

She was a longtime member of the Homer Alumni Association.

She is survived by her husband, Elwin “Al” Watrous; her sister, Dawn (William) Goddard of Plano, Texas; two sons, Richard Watrous of Cortland, NY and Scott Watrous of Shelter Island, NY. She will be missed by her five grandchildren, Sara Watrous (Alex Caminiti) of Ithaca, NY; Jeremy Watrous of Baltimore MD; Samuel (Nicole) Watrous of Clayton, NC; Paul Watrous of Homer, NY and Morgan Watrous of Orlando, FL; her great grandson, Felix who she loved to visit with, along with her aunt, Jane Hill, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Burial and a memorial service will be held in the spring at Glenwood Cemetery in Homer NY.
