Janet M. Caster, 79, of Oswego, passed away peacefully due to advanced Alzheimer’s Disease on November 19, 2024 at Cortland Park Nursing Home, Cortland, NY.
Janet was born in Cortland on September 4, 1945, a daughter of the late Robert and Mary Walker Quaile.
She spent many years working as the Office Manager for the Family Medicine practice of her first husband, Dr. Dieter H. Eppel in Auburn NY.
Her favorite pastime was playing hymns and singing. She and her second husband, Brian Caster loved volunteering on church mission trips. They also shared a love of vegetable gardening.
Surviving is her husband of 29 years, Brian Caster of Oswego; her four children, Rebecca (Mark) Eppel Fleckenstein of Skaneateles, NY; Dr. Dieter Robert (Nichole) Eppel of Seattle, WA; David Clayton Eppel of Scottsdale, AZ and Daniel James (Beth) Eppel of Petersham, MA; her siblings, Juanita Quaile of Cortland, NY; Frank Quaile of Barnesville, GA; Fred Quaile of Fairbanks, AK; Julie Quaile Lee of Phillipston, MA; Jeanie Kriegelstein of Lincoln, NE; Jennifer Hurlbutt of Fort Payne, AL; Leonard Quaile of Pendleton, OR; and Jocey Botimer of Groton, NY; her grandchildren, Brendan Dickerson of Burlington, VT; Ian Dickerson of Skaneateles, NY; Colsen Eppel of Seattle, WA; Carver Eppel of Seattle, WA; David Michael Eppel of Scottsdale, AZ; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2024 at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 U.S. Route 11, Homer.
There will also be a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at the Fulton Seventh Day Adventist Church, 45 W. 4th Street S., Fulton, NY.
Interment in Lincklaen Center Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
