Henry R. Recor, Sr., 83, of Homer, passed away unexpectedly on January 28, 2026.
He was born February 12, 1942, in Watertown, NY; the youngest of nine children born to the late Howard and Florence O’Donnell Recor. He was a 1960 graduate of Clayton Central School.
Hank was an exceptional athlete. He won the New York State wrestling championship in both 1959 and 1960, he was an avid golfer and bowler and pitched for many years in the local fast pitch softball leagues. With the love of the outdoors, Hank was a hunter and big fisherman.
He was also a talented musician, having been part of the Lock, Stock and Barrel Band for many years. He recorded several records locally with Tex Roe.
Hank was employed for many years, and retired from, the NYS Department of Transportation in LaFayette.
Surviving are his five children, Laurie Recor (Dave Burhans) of Homer; Hank (Terri) Recor, Jr. of Loris SC; Kelle Recor of Homer; Howard (Sue) Recor of Homer and Scott (Tammy) Recor of Cortland; 21 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by five brothers Earl, Corky, Bob, Larry, and Voigt Recor and three sisters, Pat Higgins, Renee Conant, and Gert Wells.
A celebration of life for Hank will be announced in the spring. Interment in Grove Cemetery, LaFargeville, NY will be at the convenience of the family.
