Henry George Bornbusch passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025 surrounded by family.
Hank, as he was known to many, was born in 1934 and lived a fulfilling 91 years. He served his country as a construction draftsman in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957, then received an Associate’s Degree in civil engineering. He returned to public service as a plant engineer at the Brookhaven National Laboratory on Long Island, from which he retired in 1994.
While stationed in the Army in Missouri, he met the love of his life, Geraldine (nee Lenz). Hank and Gerry were married for 62 years until her death in 2017. Together, they raised two children, Alan of Arlington, VA and Lynn of Cortland, NY. After Gerry’s death Hank found great comfort in the seven years he spent in the companionship of Nancy Mayeski.
Outside of work, cars and woodworking were among Hank’s passions. His wooden toys have been lovingly handed down through several generations, and several crosses that he crafted grace the Center Moriches United Methodist Church on Long Island. He was also an accomplished clarinetist, playing in concert and marching bands and orchestras on Long Island and in Cortland.
Hank is survived by his children, Alan and Lynn, grandchildren Sarah, Nicholas, Alex, Aaron, and Meilynn, and great grandchildren Paisley, Delanie, Luna, and Oliver.
He now joins Gerry, his wife and partner for over six decades, in eternal peace.
A celebration of life and burial will take place in the spring.
