Helen Cook Perry, of Sears Rd., Cortland, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at the age of 99.
Born December 26, 1916 in Fort Ripley, MN, she was youngest of ten children born to the late Wesley and Edith Clark Cook.
Helen married the love of her life, Lawrence E. Perry on July 22, 1938 at the Homer Baptist Church, by the Rev. Egbert Fountain.
She had worked, after raising her children, at Grant’s and Jo-Ann Fabrics.
Helen and Lawrence were active serving the Lord at Homer Baptist and Grace Christian Fellowship. She had also served the Gideon’s International Auxiliary. For many years, Helen held Bible Club in her home after school, teaching and reading the Bible to many local children.
Surviving is her loving husband of 78 years, Lawrence E. Perry; three children, Donald (Janie) Perry of Gordonville, PA; Gail (Bob) Simone of North Syracuse and Barb (John) Horning of Pettisville, OH; seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Marylyn Ellis, and her nine siblings.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Grace Christian Fellowship, 1250 Fisher Ave., Cortland, with Pastor John Hartman officiating. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery will be delayed until spring.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral.
