Gregory Ruddick Obituary

Gregory L. Ruddick, 71, of Bowling Green Road, Cortland, passed away on April 3, 2020 following a brief illness.

Born October 14, 1948 in Johnson City, NY; a son of the late Clifford and Florence Stone Ruddick.

Greg faithfully served his country in the United States Marine from 1968-1971, where he attained the rank of Sergeant.

After serving in the United States Marines Greg attended and graduated from Cornell University with a bachelor’s degree in science. Greg worked for Fay’s for many years after graduation as a Loss Prevention Manager and then as Juvenile Corrections Officer. Late in life Greg decided to change careers and attained his master’s in education from Le Moyne and began a second career as a teacher at Ithaca High School specializing in working with Autistic students which he thoroughly enjoyed. He retired from teaching in 2012.

He enjoyed hanging out with his many friends at Dug Out Sports Cards, traveling to Aruba with his friends and family, he loved his dogs and telling Dad jokes.

Surviving is his loving wife of 26 years, Denise Hiser-Ruddick; four children, Sean Ruddick of Binghamton; Morgan (Victor) Evans of Chandler, AZ; Diana Hof and Seth Ruddick, both of Cortland; four grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Anthony, Abby, Lily and Isabella; as well as a sister, Charlene Ruddick.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Gail Ruddick.

Due to the current restrictions in place for the COVID-19, services for Greg will be held at a later date.
