Gerald M. Reynolds, Jr., 78, of North Lamont Dr., Cortland, passed away on August 9, 2021 at Crown Center Nursing Facility.
A lifelong area resident, Gerry was born January 17, 1943 in Summer Hill, a son of the late Gerald M. Sr and Beulah Brown Reynolds, and was a 1965 graduate of Homer Central.
Growing up, Gerry worked on his family farm, and then later worked at the Roland Oakes Farm. Gerry was employed at SUNY Cortland for 27 years in the Maintenance Dept. until his retirement in 1999.
Gerry was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, Moravia and was a 50-year member of the NYS Grange, serving as Master of the Albright Grange #440, East Homer.
He was affectionately known as the ‘Donut Man’ at the Cortland Senior Club where he was active for several years.
Surviving is his wife of 35 years, Eleanor L. Day Reynolds; his three sons, Jeffery A. (Judy) Reynolds, Emmett J. (Michelle) Reynolds and Ricky C. (Patricia) Reynolds; his sister, Jeanette (Eddy) Angell; a sister-in-law, Toni Reynolds; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Nancy L. Slade Reynolds in 1984 and a brother, Richard Reynolds in 2019.
In keeping with Gerry’s wishes, services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at The Mount Hope Cemetery in Norwich, NY.
