Eula G. Gokey, 95, of York Street, Cortland, passed away unexpectedly on August 2, 2025 in the Guthrie Cortland Medical Center.
Eula was born March 7, 1930 in Santa Clara, NY, the youngest of thirteen children born to the late John and Mary Gaff Denno.
She had worked for several years as a home health aide, most recently with Kimberly Quality Care in Binghamton.
Eula was a longtime and faithful communicant of St. Mary's Church in Cortland, where she was an active member of The Catholic Daughters. For many years she participated in the electoral processes on behalf of the Democratic Party.
Surviving are her children, Linda (James) Monaco of Ocala, FL; Lana Gokey of Jay; Lynne (Dominick) Puzo of DeWitt; Louise (Michael) McAllister of Houston, TX; Lorraine (Daniel) Tracy of Cortland; Lisa (John) Behler of Houston, TX; and Lee Gokey of Cortland. Also surviving are her ten grandchildren, several great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lionel “Lin” Gokey in 2011; a daughter, Laura Woodruff and a grandson, Jason Monaco.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at St. Mary’s Church, Cortland. Interment in St. Ann’s Cemetery, St. Regis Falls, NY, will be at the convenience of the family.
