Enid H. Harris

Enid H. Harris, 87, formerly of the Friendship House, Cortland, passed away on August 4, 2021 in the Cortland Regional Nursing Facility.

Enid was born February 27, 1934 in Brooklyn, daughter of Adolph and Celia Scheingold Bernstein.

The first half of her life, she resided in the New York City and Long Island area before moving with her family to upstate New York and then on to Florida. She later lived in Virginia with one of her sons before moving to Cortland, where she spent the remainder of her life. While on Long Island, Enid was active with the sisterhood at the temple she and family attended, she was on a bowling league and was a 4-H leader. In Virginia, she worked with Northern Virginia Tres Dias. Wherever Enid lived, she found faith-based and community organizations to be involved with.

Surviving is her daughter, Linda (John) Bennett of Cortland; three sons, Michael, Robert and Douglas Harris; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Aaron Bernstein, and treasured cousin, Lloyd (Lenore) Fox, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Enid is predeceased by husband Herbert Harris.

In keeping with Enid’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.
