Eivor C. Sellen

Eivor C. Sellen, 94, passed away peacefully July 3, 2023 at the Guthrie Cortland Medical Center. 

She was a longtime resident of Misty Glen where the staff became her family, for better or worse. Her family is thankful for the excellent care she received there.

She was born on October 10, 1928 in Kungsor, Sweden, the daughter of Erik Karlsson and Marta Jansson Karlsson. In November of 1950, Eivor left Gothenburg, Sweden on a passenger ship to sail to New York City. Rodney H. Sellen, who she met at a dance in Sweden, would be there to take her back to Cortland County. She lived with a Swedish couple in Cortland until their marriage in February 1951. The newly married couple would live in Homer where her husband was helping his father operate the Westvale farm. 

Surviving are her children Christyl (Robert) Lane, of Suffolk, VA; Roland (Judy Christenson) Sellen of Naples, FL; Marlon (Barb Price) Sellen of Cortland and Ingrid (Muddy Waters) Griswold of Homer; four grandchildren, Maia, Nolan, Jonathan and Malena; two great-grandchildren, Aidan and Adaiah and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Rodney H. Sellen in 2013.

There will be no calling hours or funeral.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
