Donna M. Helms

Donna M. Helms, of Route 41, Scott, passed away at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester on November 2, 2020 at the age of 74.

A lifelong area resident, Donna was born September 2, 1946 a daughter of the late Donald and Theresa Keirns Tibbits. She was a 1963 graduate of Homer High School.

She had been employed over the years at KeyBank, Marine Midland Bank, Dovi Motors and was the owner and operator of the Scott Store for several years.

She had also served as the Scott Town Clerk and a member of the Scott Bloomers Garden Club.

Donna was an advocate for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, serving as a liaison for the MS hotline and helpline.

Surviving are her three children, Mark (Patricia) Helms; Cherie (Kevin) Fitch and Rebecca (Jamie) Hawks, all of Scott; her four loving grandchildren, Taylor Helms; Joel Fitch; Brianna Hawks and Jacqueline Fitch; a brother, Richard (Sharon) Tibbits of Locke; sister, Jeanne Ostrander of Burlington, AR as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Mark J. Helms in 1997.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at St. Margaret’s Church, 14 Copeland Ave., Homer, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Alciati. Interment will follow in Scott Union Cemetery, Route 41, Scott.
