Charles Proctor Obituary

Charles M. Proctor, 83, formerly of Hinman Rd., Cortland, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 in the Cortland Park Nursing Center.

A lifelong area resident, Charlie was born January 15, 1937 a son of the late Malcolm and Mildred Elmore Proctor and was a 1956 graduate of Homer Central School, where he was President of FFA.

Charlie was a lifelong farmer, working for the Weddle family as a teenager to purchasing his own farms on Blue Creek Road and Hinman Road. After he retired from farming, he worked as a Home Health Aide in the area.

He was a longtime, faithful and active member of the 7th Day Adventist Church. Serving the church in many capacities both locally and at the conference level.

He hosted a radio show for more than 30 years; first at WKRT for 20 years, five years at WXHC in Homer and anther 5 years at WDRX, a Christian radio station in Cortland, promoting and educating listeners on Christian values.

He had also been active in local agricultural organizations and was a former member of the Cortlandville Planning Board.

Surviving are his two sons, Malcolm (Phyllis) Proctor of Cortland and Bradley (Sharmin) Proctor of Scott; his former wife, Glenda Hilsinger; siblings, William (Emily) Proctor; Carl Proctor; Philip (Marlys) Proctor and Linda Fattic; several grandchildren, great grandchildren; step grandchildren and step great grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Proctor and two great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be announced in the spring.
