Carolyn Francis Swanka (Vossler), 63, of Preble, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024 at the NY-Presbyterian/Columbia Medical Center with family by her side.
Carolyn was born in Cortland, to Martin and Kay Vossler on December 8, 1960. She graduated from Tully High School and received her associates degree from OCC before starting a career at KeyBank. She worked many freelance jobs while her children were young before finishing her career with Fransiska Racker.
Everyone that knew Carolyn loved her dearly and always saw her heart of gold. She spent much of her adult life helping those that could not take care of themselves, including her sons and her clients through Racker.
In the last few years of her life, she suffered many health complications and through it all she never gave up hope.
She is predeceased by her son, Christopher Swanka; father, Martin Vossler; nephew, Nicholas Vossler and is survived by her children, Alexander Swanka and Ashlyn (Ken) Gorzynski; grandchildren, Lillian and Leo Gorzynski; mother, Kay Vossler; brothers, Daniel Vossler, Tom Vossler, Tim (Kary) Vossler; sister, Jennifer (Patrick) Vossler; nieces, Amber (Bryan) Ford, Courtney Vossler; nephew, Jacob George; uncles, Gene (Martha) Vossler, Robert Vossler, Alfred (Shiela) Vossler, George (Chanel) Ackerman; aunts, Gwyn Vossler and Joan Nicholson, several cousins, and dear friend, Abby Decker.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at the Preble Congregational Church, 1953 Preble Rd., Preble.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the church on Sunday from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Kidney Fund and Donate Life NYS in honor of Carolyn.
