Carole Ferro Obituary

Carole Ann Dippold Ferro, 87, passed away January 13, 2025, at her home in Little York, NY, surrounded by family.

Carole was born and raised in Cortland, NY on June 29, 1937 to Edwin and Ethelyn Wood Dippold and spent summers at the family cottage on Skaneateles Lake.

She graduated from Cortland High School in 1955 then attended CCBI in Syracuse. Her first job was at Durkee Bakery in Cortland before marrying her beloved husband, Costantino Ferro in 1962 and worked and played side by side until her passing.

She ran Carole Ann’s Antiques early on and Frog Pond Farm Art Gallery later until present. In between she went on the road with Tino, selling antiques, handcrafted furniture and all kinds of art.

Carole loved to travel and kept logs of every trip they went on. They traveled all over Europe and fell in love with Portugal where they owned a home for 20 years. They also built a workshop and home in North Carolina where they spent their winters working, camper traveling and sitting in the sun, Carole’s favorite pastime.

Carole made friends wherever she went and she cherished her many friends and neighbors. She loved shopping and especially going to “Billy’s” and The Country Peddler. She was great at picking out the perfect gifts for her loved ones, far and wide.

She loved celebrating and entertaining and was an excellent cook and baker, taking great joy in making her homemade sauce and famous pizza fritte to give away.

Carole loved animals, big and small, and over the years rescued and rehabilitated fawns, raccoons, possums, foxes, birds and more. She loved horseback riding and had many horses along with dogs, cats, goats, donkeys, ferrets, rabbits, ducks, geese, pigeons, pheasants, peacocks, a parrot and a pot bellied pig.

Carole’s family was her pride and joy. Surviving besides her husband of 63 years are her 6 children; Lucia, Anthony, Selinda, Christina (Sam Cutia), Constantino (Sonia) and Tara Ferro. She adored her grandchildren who affectionately called her Oggi; Neil, Maria, Nicolette, Callan, Caesar, Lucia, Constantino, Lucius, and Italia, and great grandchildren; Jade and Sage.

There will be no services at this time. A celebration of life will be held in the summer.

The family requests that memorial contributions in Carole’s name be made to the Ithaca Wildlife Wishing Well or similar organizations.
