Mrs. Betty V. Morse, 91, passed away on September 12, 2024, a lifelong resident of Homer.
Born October 19, 1932, daughter of the late Albert and Evalene Terrell Coon. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Richard C. Morse in 1977 and more recently by two sisters, Alberta Coon Shaw and Freida Coon Fedele.
She was employed as a cafeteria server at Homer Central High School for many years and summered on Cayuga Lake with her children and grandchildren.
Betty was an avid collector of antiques and enjoyed searching for new finds. Her collection of wood decoys is impressive. She was also a talented artist and creator of unique items. Her works included wood carvings and sculptures, flower arranging, and paintings. Most notably, a collection of her own handcrafted and designed dollhouses were her pride and joy.
Surviving are her four children, Debbie (James) Luchsinger of Homer; Linda (Gary) St. John of Homer; Cindy (Richard) Shaw of Tully and R. Scott (Kimberly) Morse of Cortland; a sister, Barbara (Charles) Olin of Homer; grandchildren, Justin and Nathan St. John; Ryan and Sarah Shaw; Matthew and Abigail Morse; Molly Pixley and Jim, Tim and Bryan Luchsinger. She was a great grandmother of 10.
In keeping with Betty’s wishes, services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
