Ann Marie Mooney, 77, of Homer, passed away on June 10, 2024, following a period of declining health.
Ann Marie was born October 1, 1946, in Binghamton, the oldest of 12 children born to the late William J. Mooney, Sr. and Lorraine Buonopane Mooney.
She was a graduate of Homer High School, SUNY Cortland and received her Master of Arts Degree from Temple University.
Ann Marie was honorably discharged from the United States Army, serving from 1976 -1984. She was a proud member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas organization.
Ann Marie enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting and loved her large, close-knit family. She was a costume designer for theater productions while attending SUNY Cortland. She was one of the original company members of Cortland Repertory Theatre in their first season as a costume designer.
Following her retirement from the Cortland County Sheriff's Department, she worked for several years at St. Margaret's Church in Homer. Ann Marie also tutored students at the Phillips Free Library in Homer, NY. She also was a member of the Center for the Arts in Homer, NY.
Surviving are her eleven siblings, Patrick (Jennie) Mooney of Lake Como, NY; Michael (Carol) Mooney of Mt. Dora, FL; Robert Mooney of Mt. Dora, FL ; Catherine (Leigh) Keith of Scott, NY; William (Robin) Mooney, Jr. of Cortland, NY; Mary Hobson of Eustis, FL; Margaret (Daniel) Sweeney of Homer, NY; Elizabeth (Mike) Sherwood of Yulan, NY; Sheila (Peter) Maniates of Conklin, NY; Carla (Edson) Pereira of Mt. Dora, FL; and David Mooney of Rotunda West, FL; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 U.S. Route 11, Homer. To stream Ann Marie’s service, click on the 'video' icon in the service section below.
Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
