Alexander Francis Swanka, 34, of Dryden passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025 at Cayuga Medical Center with family by his side.
Alex was born in Syracuse, to Michael and Carolyn Swanka on August 3, 1990. He was born with developmental disabilities, which was later found to be MECP2 Duplication Syndrome.
Throughout Alex’s life, both him and his family received support through Fransiska Racker where he was known to be a happy, fun, and very busy person. In the last three years of his life, Alex was given a second family residing at Evergreen IRA through Racker. His presence will be greatly missed and remembered by all who cared for him.
Alex is pre-deceased by his parents, Michael and Carolyn Swanka, brother, Christopher Swanka, and is survived by his sister, Ashlyn (Ken) Gorzynski; brother, Matthew Swanka; neice, Lillian Gorzynski; nephew, Leo Gorzynski; grandmothers, Grace Swanka, Kay Vossler; aunts, Mary Anne Swanka, Jennifer (Pat) Vossler, uncles Dan Vossler, Tom Vossler, Tim (Kary) Vossler; cousins, and several friends of Racker.
A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at 7 Evergreen St., Dryden, NY, to honor Alex with the residents and staff of Fransiska Racker.
