Victoria "Sue" Whiteman, 75, of Corl Dr., Preble, passed away following a long battle with cancer on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 in the Cortland Regional Medical Center.
A lifelong area resident, Sue was born August 4, 1943, a daughter of the late Morris and Meta Fox Baldwin.
Sue was an avid quilter, knitter and reader. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and was a longtime member of the Preble Congregational Church.
She loved living in and taking part in the community activities of Preble.
She retired, after 25 years of service, as Postmaster of the Preble Post Office.
Surviving is her loving husband of 56 years, Duane Whiteman; four daughters, Tina Whiteman of Cortland; Lisa (Tom) Bongiovi of Hawley, PA; Deanna (Steve) Romans of Commack, NY and Amanda Whiteman of Homer; six grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Nicholas and Olivia Bongiovi, Dylan Whiteman and Duane, Anna and Johnathan Romans. Also surviving are her siblings, Bradley (Lois) Baldwin, Adrian "Butch" (Nancy) Baldwin, Brenda Knickerbocker, Kathy (John) Holcomb, Barry “Buzzy” Baldwin, Diane (Paul) Banfield and Ricky (Vicky) Baldwin as well as several nieces nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Norman Baldwin and a sister, Bonita Baldwin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Donald L Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Preble.
Calling hours will be held on Friday evening from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
