Susan Ackley Cruz

Susan Ackley Cruz, 68, of Homer NY, passed away early Friday morning, at Upstate Medical Center after a brief, but intense, battle with Lymphoma.

Born and raised in Homer, Suzie recently moved back after over a decade in Old Fort, NC where she fulfilled her dream of owning a yarn shop to share her love of crochet and knitting, and of teaching those skills to others.

The daughter of late Paul and Charlotte Ackley of Homer, Suzie was predeceased by her cherished sister Jennie Halstead.

Surviving are her loving husband of 47 years, Jorge E Cruz of Homer, four children; Catalina Cruz of Winston Salem NC, Sarieta (Dennis III) Brummitt of Geneva OH, Carlita (Mikel) Withers of Homer NY, and Jorge W.L. (Becky) Cruz of Old Fort North Carolina, five grandchildren; Timoteo Hines, Aonghus Withers, Jenniellen Withers, Jade-Alexis Cruz, Jorge E. Cruz II, her ever so humble nephew Tim (Karen) Halstead, great-nephew Nathaniel and great-niece Kate.

There will be a small memorial gathering at Grace Christian Fellowship of Cortland on Sunday, August 6, 2017 in the Memorial Garden, from 3-5pm.
