Paul C. Burhans, 81, formerly of West Scott Road, Homer, passed away on January 10, 2019.
A lifelong area resident, Paul was born June 13, 1937 a son of the late Paul and Laura Bell Burhans. He was a 1955 graduate of Homer Central School and a graduate of Cobleskill College.
He was employed for many years as a salesman at Agway. In 1979, Paul and his wife, Joyce, founded Country Acres Pet Services, which is now operated by their granddaughter. He was also the dog control officer for several local municipalities.
Paul loved socializing with many local farmers, singing in his church choir and spending time with his family. He was an avid sports enthusiast and also enjoyed being active in his community.
Surviving are three stepchildren, Harvey (Joanne) Andersen of Sempronius; Arthur “Jim” (Joan) Andersen of Homer and Linda Butler of Reston, VA; four grandchildren, Bill, Jeff, James and Lindsay Andersen as well as nine great grandchildren. He was the beloved brother to Donald, Arden, Roger, Richard, Stanley and Beatrice.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 Route 11, Homer, with Pastor Tom Rofe officiating. Interment in Atwater Cemetery will be delayed until spring.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
