Carl E. Burhans, 79, of Route 11, Homer, passed away on July 24, 2018 following a period of declining health.
A lifelong area resident, Carl was born March 29, 1939, a son of the late Harold and Pauline Wood Burhans.
Carl was a hardworking man. He was the former owner and operator, for more than 50 years, of Seven Valley Trucking in Homer. He also enjoyed all types of racing, especially NASCAR and dirt track.
Surviving are his children, Carol (John) Simon of Homer; David Burhans (Laurie Recor) of Homer; Daniel (Dawn) Burhans of Cortland and William Burhans of Homer; his longtime companion, Chery Dimare; his sister, Shirley (Don) Lansdowne of Little York; a brother, Harold (Carla) Quaile of Scott; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, Douglas Burhans.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer, with Pastor Michael Dunn serving as celebrant. Interment in Atwater Cemetery, Homer will be at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral.
