Robert J. ‘Buddy’ Harter, of McDonald Road, Homer, went home to be with his mother, father and sister, following a brief illness on October 26, 2023.
A lifelong area resident, Bud was born February 15, 1959, a son of the late, Robert and Edith Seager Harter.
Buddy was a lifelong, self-taught and well-respected carpenter. He worked alongside his father for many years, operating Harter General Carpentry. He also owned and operated Harter’s Small Engine Repair for many years. Buddy was a jack of all trades; he could tear apart, rebuild and construct pretty much anything.
In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his father. He was a longtime member of the Burns-McCauliffe Post 465 American Legion of Homer.
Surviving is his loving partner of 33 years, Linda Diliello; his daughter, Rebecca Harter of McGraw; his siblings, Sherri Burns and Michael Harter of Homer; Connie Vinnedge of Preble; brother-in-law, Richard Breidinger and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Debbie Breidinger; two nieces, Cathy Burns and Sarah Helms and a nephew, Jeffrey Stout.
Calling hours will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 30, 2023 at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer, NY 13077.
