Nancy Leona Stone

Nancy Leona Stone, a resident of the Friendship House, Cortland, passed away on April 2, 2021 in the Cortland Regional Medical Center following a period of declining health.

A lifelong area resident, Nancy was born February 24, 1939, a daughter of the late Robert and Leona Reynolds Stone, Sr.

She was a 1959 graduate of Homer High School and for a short time worked with her father and brothers on the family farm in Preble. Nancy was employed at the former Newton Fish Line Co., which later became Albany International, retiring in 1998 after 40 years of service.

Nancy enjoyed working on her lawn and gardening, bowling, watching SU sports and NASCAR. She was happiest being around her family and friends.

Surviving are her five siblings, Patricia Griswold of Preble; Judy (John) Wyckoff of Plattsburgh; Pete (Marion) Stone of Little York; John (Kathy) Stone of Preble and Roy (Cathy) Stone of Homer; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Raymond Liddington; brother-in-law, Calvin ‘Jim’ Griswold and her niece, Renee Griswold.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, 14 Copeland Ave., Homer, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Alciati. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Cortland.
