Mary A. Myrto, 70, of Clinton St., Homer, passed away while under the care of Hospice and her loving family on February 20, 2021.
She was born July 7, 1950 in Pontiac, MI, a daughter of the Frederick and Dorothy See Carter and was a graduate of Walled Lake High School.
In 1968, Mary enlisted in the US Air Force, faithfully serving until her honorable discharge in 1972, with the rank of Sergeant.
She retired in 2013 from Cornell Co-Operative Extension where she worked as a Family Educator, serving the families of Cortland County. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing crafts, camping, and most of all spending time with her beautiful grandchildren. Mary brought so much joy to those around her with her incredible zest for life and uncanny ability to get a laugh out of anyone through one of her many hilarious stories she would tell.
Mary is survived by her husband, Daniel I. Myrto; two sons, John F. (Jennifer) Myrto of Homer and Scott M. (Lori) Myrto of Holly Springs, NC; four grandchildren, Lexie and Carter Myrto, Campbell and Brantley Meador and a sister, Shirley (Bruce) MacGregor of Michigan.
In keeping with Mary’s wishes, there will be no services.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Myrto’s name may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
