Jonathan P. Pelsang

Jonathan P. Pelsang, 56, of Preble, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

A lifelong area resident, Jon was born January 27, 1970, the second son of John J. Pelsang Jr. and Nancy Demarest (Pelsang) White.

He was a 1988 graduate of Homer High School, where he excelled at lacrosse and wrestling and was a member of the starting players on the Homer Trojans football team, who won back-to-back Section 3 titles in 1985 and 1986.

Jon lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and a good pitch game. He loved the Minnesota Vikings, music, singing in his car, and dancing.

Jon was proud of his work as an iron worker with the Iron Workers Local 60. A job he had for more than 25 years. A job he was good at and a worker the people around him respected. 

Surviving is the love of his life of 32 years, Bethann Welch Pelsang; two daughters, Nichole Burhans and Jessica Burhans (Daniel Sweeney); his mother, Nancy (Don) White; brother, David (Carol) Pelsang; five grandchildren, Anastasia, Natalie, Xxavior, Amyra and Cebastian; several nieces, nephews, cousins, his iron worker brothers and his fur babies, Baxter and Mollee.

Jon was predeceased by his father, John J. Pelsang, Jr.   

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 U.S. Route 11, Homer, NY, with Pastor Daniel Maxfield serving as officiant.

Jon's family will receive friends and relatives on Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to American Heart Association and or the American Diabetes Association.
