Dr. Richard P. Merlin, 87, of 23 S. West St., Homer passed away unexpectedly on December 4, 2020 in Florida.
He was born February 19, 1933 in New York, NY, a son of the late Paul H. and Elizabeth Weber Merlin.
Richard was a veteran of the United States Navy and Korean War, proudly serving from April 16, 1951 to March 18, 1955 aboard the USS Kankakee and USS Tripoli.
He graduated Lincoln Chiropractic college in 1959 and was a resident of Homer since 1973. Dr. Merlin owned and operated Homer Chiropractic for many years, retiring in 2010.
He was a longtime member of the Cortland Country Club.
Surviving is his loving wife, Judith Kawryga Merlin; his children, Erik Merlin (Roxanne Buss) of Whitney Point and Penelope Partis of Ithaca; step-children, Leslie Joan Wicks of Skaneateles Falls; Peter J. Wicks of Homer and Kevin H. Wicks of Central Square. two sisters, Joan Parks of Greenville, NY and Alice Bryant of Freehold, NY; his grandchildren, Heather, Nicholas and McKayla Partis, Trevor and Katelyn Merlin, and Lucas and Leia Helmer as well as four great grandchildren, Caden, Tavian, Anthony and Alena.
A graveside service for family and friends will be announced in the spring.
