Donald E. Wright, formerly of Preble Road, Preble, passed away on March 31, 2020 following a lengthy illness at the age of 81.
A lifelong area resident, Don was born February 8, 1939, the son of the late Wellington and Hilda Edinger Wright.
Over the years, Don was employed with Roger Craver Construction, Wright’s Grocery and Barber & DeLine. He also served as the Preble Highway Superintendent and was caretaker for Elmwood Cemetery in Preble.
He was a lifetime member of the Preble Congregational Church and a longtime volunteer for the Preble Fire Department. Don was an avid sports fan and was a faithful follower of the Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Dodgers. He also loved his black lab dogs.
Surviving are his two children, Debbie (Jim) Pelowski and Tracy (Debbie) Wright; his grandchildren, Shannon (Andrew) Kostuk; Matthew Pelowski and Nicole and Matt Wright; his great grandson, Landon Kostuk; with another great grandson due in May. Also surviving are his sister, Marilyn Twentyman Stoker; a brother, William (Sue) Wright and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Don was extremely devoted to his family and was always eager to lend a hand.
Don was predeceased by a brother, Paul Wright.
Visitation and memorial services will be delayed and announced by the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home at a later date to be determined.
