Donald E. Vaber

Donald E. Vaber, 89, of Homer passed away on October 19, 2020 in the Guthrie Cortland Medical Center.

A lifelong area resident, Don was born March 3, 1931, the eldest son of the late John and Tressa Campbell Vaber.

Don spent the majority of his life, and thoroughly enjoyed his time, on the family farm. He retired in 1996 after 22 years of service as a custodian at the Homer Jr. High School.

Surviving is his daughter, Rachel (David) Kelly of Silver Spring, MD; his longtime companion, Barbara Hubbard of Homer; granddaughter, Emma Jean Kelly of Silver Spring, MD; a brother, Robert (Lorri) Vaber of Maine-Endwell; sister-in-law, Beverly Vaber of Homer; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Vaber was predeceased by his loving wife, Jean Simmons Vaber in 1999; a sister, Laura Matijas and a brother, James Vaber.

In keeping with Don's wishes there will be no calling hours. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
