Charles Russell Ford, 86, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, in Homer, New York. Born on August 20, 1939, in Endicott, New York, Charles lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to his family, community, and country.
A proud veteran, Charles served his nation with honor before dedicating much of his life to the fire service. Known for his unwavering commitment and service, he was a steadfast presence in the Homer Fire Department where he earned the respect and admiration of those who worked alongside him. His sharp wit and sarcastic humor made him a beloved figure among friends and colleagues alike. Charles was known for being a jokester with a stubborn streak that endeared him to those who knew him best.
Charles shared many adventures traveling with his late wife, Janice Ford. Together, they created cherished memories that reflected their deep bond and love for exploration.
Their travels were a testament to their enduring partnership and zest for life.
He is survived by his loving children: Joann (Phil) Stockton, Charlie (Sandra) Ford, and Ken (Jessica) Ford. Charles was also a proud grandfather to Valerie (Chris), Cody, Damon, Connor and to his step grandchildren Orie and Jaden; and a great-grandfather to Mia and Lucas. He held a special place in his heart for his niece, Dawn Zupancic.
Charles was predeceased by his beloved wife Janice and granddaughter Aubrey.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor Charles's memory and the impact he had on those around him.
Charles will be remembered for his humor, dedication, and the joy he brought into the lives of others. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
