Albert D. Shaw, 84, formerly of Park Avenue, Homer, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020 while under the care of Hospice and his family.
Albert was born October 17, 1936 a son of the late Louis and Charlotte Sill Shaw and was a graduate of King Ferry High School.
He was a proud veteran, faithfully serving his country in the US Army from 1960 – 1962.
For more than 25 years he was a machine operator at Smith Corona and retired from the Homer Central School where he was a bus driver for 15 years.
Al was a life-member of the Homer Fire Department and an active member of the both the Homer and Cortland American Legions.
Surviving is his son, Steven (Vicki) Shaw of Rochester; three grandsons, Kyle, Joseph and Evan Shaw; two sisters, Adelaide Durbin of Moravia; Sharon Romaine of Groton; a brother, Bernie Shaw of Indiana; sister-in-law, Charlotte Shaw of Florida and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Bessie Witty Shaw in 2002; a son, Kenneth Shaw in 1997; his longtime companion, Arlene Witty and five brothers, Louis ‘Jim’ Shaw, Rodney ‘Mike’ Shaw, Harold ‘Jay’ Shaw, Charles ‘Shorty’ Shaw and Stanley ‘Dan’ Shaw.
A celebration of life for Albert will be held at a later date.
