Phyllis M. Filkins, 79, of Glen Haven Rd., Scott, passed away on December 13, 2019.
A lifelong area resident, she was born May 12, 1940, a daughter of the late Lloyd Burns and Irene Hall.
Phyllis was employed for 16 years at the Salvation Army Family Store, retiring as store manager. She had previously worked at Smith Corona and CAPCO, as an outreach coordinator.
Phyllis loved her large, extended family more than anything. She enjoyed doing crafts, tending to her plants and flowers and collecting angels.
She was a member of the Scott United Methodist Church and the Spafford Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are her five children; Vernon (Christine) Filkins, II, Debbie Brown, Tammy (Charles) Keller, Melissa (Vincent) Losaw and Bonnie (Robert) Mountford; 31 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings, Charlotte Swan, Elaine Lyon, Bruce Burns, Robert Burns and Lee (Kim) Filkins, brother-in-law, Carl Weirs and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Vernon Filkins, I; her son-in-law, Kennard Brown; siblings, Dale Burns, James Burns, Joyce Burns, Sherry Weirs and Rosie Craig.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Friday, December 20, 2019 at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer, with Pastor John Aukema officiating. Interment in Scott Union Cemetery will be delayed until spring.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral.
