Ellis G. Withey

Ellis G. Withey, 93, of South West St., Homer, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 8, 2019 in the Guthrie Cortland Regional Medical Center.

A lifelong area resident, he was born July 22, 1925 in Solon, he was the son of the late Clark and Myrtle Ellis Withey.

To say Ellis was a car enthusiast, would be an under-statement. For many years, he owned and operated Withey’s Repair in Homer. He was a mechanic, body man, builder and a man who appreciated a finely built car. Ellis was a founding member of the Cortland Antique Car Club.

Surviving is his loving wife of 73 years, Louise A. Withey; his children, Marjorie L. (Richard) Jenney of Virgil; David E. (Arlen) Withey of Groton; Donald C. Withey of Cortland and Dale W. (Nancy) Withey of Homer; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ellis was predeceased by a sister, Betty Webber and two brothers, Elwyn and Harley Withey.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer.

Graveside services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
