Blaise Martin Dafoe, 32, of Homer, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 30, 2019.
Born on June 27, 1987, Blaise was the loving son of Daniel R. and Nancy A. Dafoe of Little York, NY. A graduate of Homer Central High School, Blaise attended Elmira College where he played basketball and studied business.
A big man with an even bigger heart, Blaise had a way of finding those who needed help and wrapped his long arms around them. He rescued a pup, and Bogie became the family dog. Thoughtful and empathetic, he was a great listener. He was also a film and television aficionado. For many summers, Blaise took to the waters of Little York Lake after work with his dog, shades, and a carefully selected hip-hop playlist. Fiercely loyal, passionate about politics, kind, generous, and quick to laugh with others, he had many friends whom he held close and dear.
He is survived by his parents Nancy and Dan Dafoe; his sisters Colette and Nicole Dafoe; his brothers in law, David Cusano and Adam Naill; his nephews, Truman and Owen Naill, and Enzo and Luca Cusano; a large extended family: Murray Joseph and Linda Dafoe; Maureen Dafoe Dawson and Michael Dawson; Mary Dafoe; Jack and Barb Dafoe; Steve Dafoe; Kathy Dafoe; Annette and D.J. Hartnett; Christine Jenney; Theresa and Dan Hartnett; Bobbi Jo Dafoe; Phyllis Avery and Gary Weiner; Larry Avery and Lisa Harris; Dianne Avery and Beni Levi; Robert Avery and Philomena Mantella; and Marilyn Avery and Bill Campbell, and many wonderful cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 4, 2019 at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
