Welcome to the memorial page for

Sandra M. (Seamans) Curtis

July 4, 1960 ~ April 24, 2017 (age 56) 56 Years Old

“You are so brave and so quiet, I forget you are suffering.”

Sandra M. Curtis, 56, of Bellevue Ave., Cortland, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2017.

A lifelong area resident, she was born July 4, 1960, a daughter of Merritt Seamans and Roselyn Kniffen Seamans.

Sandy graduated Homer High School in 1978 and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Binghamton University.

She had been employed for 18½ years by Cortland County. She loved working with families, especially children, as a DSS Foster Care Caseworker.

She enjoyed spending time and long walks with her family and friends.

“Your soft-spoken words were always sincere, and your gentleness made everyone feel at home. This battle you fought was relentless, though you fought with a smile. We will never know why you had to leave us so soon. Thankfully, your loving memory will get us through the toughest of days. You have taught me everything I needed to know, except how to live without you.”

Surviving is her husband of 34 years, David Curtis, her loving children, Greg and Emily Curtis; her father, Merritt (Beverly) Seamans; a sister, Sharon (Tim) Stevens and a brother, Gerry (Barb) Seamans. Also surviving are her step siblings, Jeff (Tami) Shepard; Robin (Bill) Mooney; Kathi (Glen) Mauzy; Kristen (John) Tomcyck; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her mother, Roselyn Kniffen Seamans in 2012.
