Marilyn J. Schaeffer

Marilyn J. Schaeffer, 92, long-time resident of Downingtown, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Paoli Hospital. 

Born on March 12, 1925 in Cortland, New York, she was the daughter of the late Leon E. and Dorothy M. Dresser Smith.

Marilyn received her B.A. in Sacred Music at Eastern Baptist Seminary.  She was a devoted pastor’s wife for 23 years and directed numerous choirs.  For 35 years, she was a member of Church of the Savior and sang in the choir.  She also worked at Control Data, CPI, and ICI of Valley Forge.  

She is survived by her three children, Phillip Schaeffer (Mary Beth), Barbara Cuttler (Rick Markley) and Margaret Michell (David); a sister, Enola Rossell; four grandchildren, Stephanie Michell, David Michell (Charlotte), Marc Michell (Jessica) and Stephen Cuttler; two great grandchildren, Adeline and Reid Michell; and by four nieces.  

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 1, 2018 in the chapel at St. Martha Manor, 470 Manor Avenue, Downingtown.  Friends will be received from 9:30-10:00 a.m.  Interment will be held in the Spring at Lakeview Cemetery in Ithaca, New York. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in memory of Marilyn Schaeffer to St. Martha Center, Attn: Finance, 470 Manor Avenue, Downingtown, Pa 19335.
